Time has passed by so quickly but the wounds
are still fresh.
One year has passed
since the cruellest crime of my time, the time in which I was learning the tricks
and trades of this world. In the time when I was hoping for a bright and safe
future for me and my family, some bastards proved it that humanity is dying. I
won’t say that I had imagined all good things around me but this incident
shocked me like any other Indian and citizens of humanity around the world. The
rape of 23 years old girl will be remembered in the history of our nation in
the way 1857 is remembered as first revolt against colonial rule. It was after
16th December 2012 only that we normal and non-caring citizens
realised to stand for our self and for others and to tell sleeping government
to react strongly. Obviously, it was the prime duty of Delhi police to make
every corner of Delhi safe for girls and for government to have acted much
early on such incidents. Anyway, both of these forces failed...but what about
us? There was some news around that time about how some people who were passing
by a ‘naked and injured girl lying in road’ didn’t step in to help this dying
soul from the fear of being involved in a police case. The winter of 2012
showed us on our face that how weak we have become in our social
responsibility.
Let’s look at this
unforgiving incident- A 23years old girl from a very middle class family had
gone out with her male friend (later on, some idiots criticized this late night
outing). After watching movie and enjoying themselves they looked around for
transport to home. Not getting a mode forced them to take a private bus and
what happened after this is the darkest chapter of human history.
After this incident all news channels were busy in reporting this incident. Thanks to the media
coverage because of which the spark was lighted and soon it got converted in a
fire. Bringing back the subject of our social responsibility, those people who
were present there that night where a part of us. Though these people also
become part of every candle march and abused police and government but wouldn’t
it had made difference to someone’s life if they would had acted back then,
that night?
I don’t expect an
answer because there can’t be a strong answer except than a weak ‘sorry’ from
us to that that brave girl’s soul.

Update- While
surfing for more information on 16th December rape case, I cross
these hidden truths reported by Hindustan Times-
Two other rape cases
on 16th December that were never reported-
1st
report- Almost three hours after brutal assault on rape victim and her male
friend, Delhi police were informed of another gang rape of a woman in a moving
bus in South West Delhi. The police neither got her medically examined nor did
they trace the culprits and the vehicle involved.
2nd
report- The incident was described as a rape of 5-6 years old girl near the
shop of a particular person in Kusum Pur Pahari. When Hindustan Times dialled
of the complainants of the child rape incident, he said it was a case of sodomy
and the culprit, who was arrested by the police is currently on bail.
