A & N Diary- 7

The Writer- Yawning, The Father- Inspecting & The Mother- Posing! Chennai International Airport

7pm, Thursday 4th December 2013

Right now, I am sitting in this Air India Express plane, which we had boarded from Chennai International airport. As per the tickets booked, water and snacks has been promised. Let’s see what kind of snacks we will be served.  My expectations are high as when I had travelled from Mumbai to Sikkim in a Kingfisher plane, the quality & quantity of snacks was quite good. This flight took off at 6.30pm. Like any other city, Chennai is also looking a beautiful city lightened up by thousands of bulbs and tubes. This gets me thinking of a future scenario when our future generation will have to pay hefty price so to buy electricity or power. Obviously the poor will be completely ruined. And I know such time will come. Anyway, writing about my last evening in Tirumala, it was really energetic and nice. From Tirupati railway station, we took a big size jeep that transported us and luggage to the hills of Tirumala. It was a beautiful journey up to the hills. While we choose to go by road, some others, who looked like dedicated worshippers took the path through hills to reach the temple. We washed ourselves in the bathroom of a guestroom that was allotted to us in one of the many buildings built by Tirupati temple trust. I must say that all the buildings have been maintained well.
There was continuous supply of water and electricity.

Before getting into the line for darshan, we decided to stuff our stomachs with some light food. We didn’t prefer heavy meal at that time because of two reasons- Only God knew how much time it will take for us to see the idol of Balaji and we didn’t wanted to see God with a garlic smelling mouth. As I looked around when sipping tea and dipping iconic Parle-G biscuit in it, I was happy to see the number of jobs created in the name of God. Though Indian Railways has been tagged as the organisation providing maximum number of jobs, I say, God is not far behind. There were dozens of shops established around the temple, selling variety of products and offering services.

As the time came for standing in queue, we decided to opt for ‘special VIP line’. As the name suggests, you pay 300 bucks and you are given a much shortcut way to reach God. If you will choose to stand in general queue, it may take atleast 6-7 hours to reach God as told to my father by his contacts in Chennai. So we got infront of God within 40-45minutes. I was smiling while struggling through many others like me in reaching the God at the earliest. I was smiling because being a traveller in Mumbai local train for almost 5-6years; I have mastered this art of making my way through people. I have shown my skills in Dadar situated- Siddhivinayak Mandir, Shirdi situated- Sai baba temple and in a famous people in Pune, can’t recall its name.

Oh here a see two beautiful, confident and bold air-hostesses giving every traveller, their share of water and snack.
