Too Much is too Less

This article may be a delayed write-up as the base story to which I am going to relate this article includes a high profile couple who managed to walk through heaven only to rest in hell. A few months back, all news channels had stormed the gate of a Delhi hotel to get the best coverage of the whole situation going inside the lavish hotel. Obviously now, all these cameras have turned to other important hot topics from around the nation, but that night it came in as a shocking headline. The cameras and questions were present there not to cover yet another rich and big fat Indian wedding but a suicide case or may be a murder.

Two people about whom I am talking are, Shashi Tharoor and his late wife Mrs. Sunanda Pushkar. Now that you have read the names, the party supporters may abuse me for using the words ‘Rest in Hell’ but trust me I didn’t meant it in literal sense. You should read and interpret it as a situational based phrase (and not person based) through which I would like to reflect the depth how rich we are to die a poorly celebrated death. May the beautiful soul of Mrs. Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor rest in peace! Having prayed for a place in heaven for this business woman who has left back a property of 400 crores, it has been given in our holy books that a suicide is no less than a sin and God punishes the soul for this crime done on this earth. You know the afterlife funda!

Here I am assuming that Mrs. Sunanda’s death was a result of suicide. We may soon hear in the headlines if it was a self-planned suicide or a planned killing. Though it is hard to believe that the victim was without security or she was poisoned! I mean if you are a billionaire and you are married to a top level politician, won’t you make it sure that you have the best security measures around you? But then all security measures can be paralyzed if the move is well planned!

So assuming that it was a self-planned death, let us take a close study on what had promoted Mrs. Pushkar, a well educated woman to take her own life?

The only reason that I could find in this self-killing is nothing new but the old fact that clearly shows our boredom in heart. In 2013, we saw the untimely death of young bollywood actress Jiah Khan, who was yet finding her place in the Hindi film industry. Even in Khan’s suicide case, the reason was problem in relationship that was also found in case of Sashi-Sunanda. Whatever the reason was behind Jiah Khan’s death, I find it absurd nonsense that police have arrested Aditya Pancholi on the basis that he promoted Jiah to commit suicide. Jiah Khan was not a kid to be manipulated to this extent. Each one of us suffers some kind of setback in life. While the suicide of Jiah was a shock for the newsroom and the page 3 world, Sunanda’s pain was visible on her Twitter page.

It is a much known fact that we are here in this world (called Earth) to earn our bread, clothing and roof in the best way possible. Both these women in the article were not born rich but in the later stage of their life, they suffered a lot emotionally and mentally. Sunanda Pushkar married her third husband Shashi Tharoor in 2010, after he was elected to parliament. Her previous two marriages had failed terribly. Second woman, Nafisa Khan who later changed name to Jiah couldn’t prove her mettle in Hindi film industry and also suffered heart break as reported by the tabloids. Again I would like to make it very clear that I don’t intend to tag these two women as persons with bad character. These women had three very basic needs of life that can keep a normal middle class person happy- Roti, kapda and makaan but too much proved to be too less for them.

These two women had one thing in common. That was- They had all luxurious to showcase in materialistic world but the inner peace was missing.  May they rest in peace and May God gives us strength to lead a tension free life, only to have a struggle free departure.

PS- This article was started in July 2014. And I am posting it now. LOL!
