I have to confess this- My family is obsessed with Bigg Boss
and I can’t do anything about this. If I remember well then since last 5-6
seasons of this completely nonsense ‘reality’ show, my family has followed it
very religiously without missing even a bit. To make things worse, high speed internet
at a very cheap rate coupled with OTT platforms have dropped in offering live
streaming, Save or watch later options.
And trust me this well scripted show is more than just a source
of television entertainment. It is all about moulding a perfectly normal human
brain down to a dark path. In a way, this show and other shows like many of
which are on the likes of Altbalaji are bringing to your tv screen what you
desire as in the context of violence, scripted fights and obviously Indians’s
favourite pastime- SEX (If I have offended anyone then kindly check the
latest rank of India on the parameter of population). It is actually funny
to watch when a camera is focused on the cleavage of a housewife who is
supposed to represent a sexually charged woman from rural India. When all of
this content is freely available (Rs. 25 per month for Altbalaji is no big
paycheque) we shall not be very surprised when girls/women are raped on daily
basis or should I say hourly basis. I am really disappointed with an OTT brand
like Amazon Prime for showcasing a housewife sleeping with father-in-law as a
compromise or having meaningless sex with servant in their web-series Mirzapur.
Now before you crown me as being an old fashioned or a narrow-minded asshole, I
have no issue with women being sex hungry and wearing tight blouse. Every woman
has every right to treat her body the way she wants it. But the only point I
would like to make is- What’s the need to showcase all this on
television/computer screens when we already know that there is no barring on
internet access irrespective of age. Don’t you think a 15 years old kid
watching this content today will grow up with a heavily charged up testosterone
level?
I have to accept this and I feel really so sorry for the
present generation- There was a time decade ago when Mr. Derek O Brien used to
host Bournvita Quiz Contest. Where have those days gone? No kindly don’t start
comparing this precious knowledge show to the likes of Shahrukh Khan hosted ‘Kya
aap Paanchvi pass se tez hai?’. Consider yourself to be an intellect if you
don’t remember which quiz show I am talking about. And you know what, just
forget about that Salman Khan hosted Sony show ‘10 ka Dum’!
So, I clearly remember that as a kid, me and my brother
would be hooked on to the grills of our window only to witness gully fights
between two bulls or a drunk man being between by people. Well now that I have
grown up, ‘a man being beaten by a mob’ is no funnier and it
definitely does not justify to any reasoning. The only answer to such an act is
We are doing what we are watching.
Well so back to BB which is currently running into its 13th
season is being hosted by Bollywood’s own messiah and the good Samaritan Mr.
Salman Khan. As they say you can’t judge a book only by its cover, you can
definitely judge the content of a TV show by looking at the credentials of the
host. Just to add to your surprise the main production house behind this show in India is actually launching this show in multi Indian languages. Because we Indians may fail to connect with each other over some mutual wise topic but the taste for such nonsense is something we share in common. No surprise what all people (including myself!) can do for money. And
before you began to humiliate/abuse SK anymore, there are few more industry
people who had dared to step into the shithole of BB. They being- Arshad Warsi
(Of Golmaal fame!), Amitabh Bachchan (The ever costly, overrated Mango), Farah
Khan (mother of triplets), Shilpa Shetty (Because of racial discrimination card
from Big Brother), Sanjay Dutt (As always Not guilty!)
In the end, I would like to make a very humble request-
Kindly stop now if you are watching such content on TV or online. It works like
slow poison. And if you have not watched a single show of any such genre, God
bless you! You are living your life the right way.
